At Florblanca, we highly enjoy working with media profesionals, and we love to tell our story. In a Monday Design Daydream column, Lonny magazine profiles Florblanca in a piece called Wish We Were Here: Florblanca. A romantic Costa Rican retreat tops our travel wish list.
Lonny Magazine is a beacon of home decor and design inspiration. We are in love with their stories, ideas, and features, and are excited to be a part of this publication. We also love how they describe our villas in this piece: "11 villas artfully blend sleek design...and a laid-back tropical vibe. Local touches such as organic fabrics and native hardwood flooring mingle with more rustic elements, including gauzy hammocks for two. Like the living rooms, open-air bathrooms take relaxation to another level, with minimalist hand-carved stone soaking tubs, oversized rain showers, and foliage at every turn.”
Thank you to Lonny Magazine for planting daydreams of Florblanca in the minds of your readers.
We are so grateful to Lauren and Austen for choosing Florblanca as the site of their destination wedding. You can see a profile of this gorgeous event at two+seven, a fashion collective website. As Lauren and Austen were looking for the perfect location for their wedding, “They hoped to find a place where their 60 closest friends and family could feel like they were on vacation in a small exotic town with access to warm weather, beaches and excursions.”
They narrowed down their list to Santa Teresa, Costa Rica and we are ecstatic that they ultimately chose Florblanca. As Lauren explains it: “In our humble opinion, there is no better place. They’ve built a gorgeous hotel that seamlessly blends luxury and nature – it’s a fantastic experience. They catered to our every want and need, treated us like family and greeted us by our first names. We felt like we were at home.”
We want to send Lauren and Austen a huge congratulations on their marriage and wish them many more adventures in the years to come.

Florblanca is thrilled to have been a part of a New York Times Travel article profiling our home town, Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Journalist Dave Seminara was a guest at Florblanca recently and he saw the opportunity to spotlight an important issue in our small town that is sure to reverberate with other off-the-beaten-path tourist destinations.
The article - In a Costa Rican Beach Town, the Road Less Paved - sheds light on the wear and tear of the increasingly busy dirt roads leading to and from Santa Teresa. The stress on these roads from traffic creates an extremely bumpy car ride and also generates a great deal of dust during the dry season and mud during the green season, making pedestrian traffic more challenging.
People in town have differing opinions about solutions for the roads and Mr. Seminara reveals the complexities of the issues for residents, business owners, expats, and travelers.
BioBalance is a Spanish language magazine with a focus on natural medicine, nutrition, natural cosmetics, yoga, dance, meditation, and alternative therapies. The publication recently sent a writer to Florblanca to profile our Yoga Studio and our Yoga Master, Stefano Allegri.

They also captured the mind / body / soul connection that can be achieved here in our oceanfront and rainforest setting, enhanced through yoga, pilates, and fresh, local, healthy, delicious food at Nectar Restaurant.
The article also provides a flattering profile of Stefano, our resident Yoga Master, accompanied by a wonderful slideshow of images from his classes in our open-air dojo.

CNN Travel recently toured Costa Rica, profiling some of the more upscale hotels and resort communities. Lucky for us, they planned a stop in Santa Teresa where "the wide white-sand beaches of Santa Teresa have become Costa Rica's hippest luxury escape." Florblanca is mentioned in the article as a full-service resort "that won't disappoint."
Among the highlights of our resort, the author mentions horseback riding, surfing and yoga. She also mentions Costa Rica's Sustainable Tourism Program that qualifies resorts to be designated as eco-friendly. We are proud to have earned 4 leaves out of a possible 5 and a Certificate of Sustainable Tourism through that program.
We were delighted to host Gadling.com travel blogger, Dave Seminara, during his two day stay with his wife and young kids at Florblanca. Having spent his younger years traveling frequently and always looking for the cheapest place to stay, Dave is a budget-conscious traveler who appreciates a "once in a blue moon" splurge at a "truly world-class, luxury resort." We are so glad he chose Florblanca for his once in a blue moon trip!
Dave knew he wanted to be near Santa Teresa and he chose Florblanca after reading rave reviews on TripAdvisor. Upon arriving, he writes: "Before we'd even officially checked into Florblanca, a small, 11 villa eco-resort in Santa Theresa, on Costa Rica's glorious Nicoya Peninsula, I was already dreading leaving the place."
Dave enjoyed his short stay with us, commenting that the resort, the beach, the lush trees and wildlife "make the place feel like something pretty damn close to paradise." Cheers to that! We hope to see Dave and his family back at our paradise before the next blue moon.
Marysia Swim gives a shout out to Florblanca in the May 2013 issue of Condé Nast Traveller.

We were so happy to have Marysia and can't wait to see her again!

Surfers looking for a place to rest after a day of riding the waves will feel right at home at Florblanca’s Surf House. This fairly recent addition to our resort offers a spectacular oceanfront vista, three air-conditioned sleeping rooms, one bathroom, large refrigerator and plenty of comfy outdoor seating. Able to accommodate up to six guests, the Surf House is the perfect place to bring a group - and at only $400/night for two people ($50/night per additional guest), this is one vacation that won’t break the bank. See our Villas and Rates.
Here's what the popular vacation travel magazine Travel + Leisure has to say about Florblanca Resort in it's article "Costa Rica's Hottest new Hotels and Lodges."
"It’s not often that you come across an Asian-inspired resort in Costa Rica-especially one located on Playa Santa Teresa’s best surf break. Here, it’s more about blissing out than riding the waves. There are only a few dozen guests at any time, and everything is designed to soothe-from the boulder-studded pool, where you’ll feel like you’re swimming in an aqueous Zen garden, to the bamboo spa bungalow, with its ponds and shoji screens. Each of Florblanca’s 11 villas is accented with organic fabrics and native hardwoods, and all have terraces outfitted with hammocks. (Book the Surf House, steps from the ocean.) After an evening yoga class on the beach, kick back with a tamarind mojito-or two-from the open-air Nectar bar."

Florblanca Resort is proud to have been featured in a recent Alister & Paine Magazine article entitled "Pacific Surf Town’s Luxury Resort: Boutique Costa Rica Resort is the perfect balance of adventure & elite splendor."
The author expresses that "the combination of simultaneous rainforest and oceanic environment is breathtaking, like nothing you’ve ever seen before." With luxurious villas and spa treatments, close-to-nature living, and activities and amenities offered within the resort as well as the surrounding community of Santa Teresa and the Nicoya Peninsula, Florblanca provides the freedom to enjoy the resort and area as you wish.
The resort is nestled on the tip of the southern Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica and in addition to daily yoga, pilates, and on-site spa services, guests also love to explore horsebackriding, forest excursions, ziplining, and surfing at one of the world's greatest breaks - right outside your villa door. An interview with Florblanca General Manager Cody Dillon reveals that she came for the surfing and never looked back.
